Experimental investigation of the pairing state of high-temperature superconductors.

چکیده
To address the issue of the pairing state in high-temperature superconductors, four different experimental investigations have been carried out on a single high-quality, untwinned single crystal of LuBa2Cu3O72d. These include measurements of the specific heat in magnetic fields, both near the transition temperature and at low temperatures, investigations of the angular dependence of the transverse magnetic moment in the nonlinear Meissner regime, and the measurement of microwave properties leading to the temperature dependences of the penetration depth and the surface resistance at low temperatures. Some of the results raise questions relating to the existence of a pairing state with line nodes in the energy gap, whereas others appear to be consistent with this picture. The results taken together suggest that studies of the pairing state be examined critically for possible alternative explanations. @S0163-1829~96!09134-5#

To understand the mechanism of superconductivity in unconventional super onductors is one of the big challenges in the field of superconductivity. Based on the BCS theory, there is a direct relation between the pairing mechanism and the symmetry of the order parameter. Therefore, identification of the structure of the superconducting gap or the order parameter provides key information on the pa...

It is a common knowledge that the formation of electron pairs is a necessary ingredient of any theoretical work describing superconductivity. Thus, finding the mechanism of the formation of the electron pairs is of utmost importance. There are some experiments on high transition temperature superconductors which support the electron-phonon (e-ph) interactions as the pairing mechanism (ARPES),...
متن کاملExperimental Constraints on the Pairing State of the Cuprate Superconductors: an Emerging Consensus
We present a critical discussion of recent experimental probes of the pairing state of the high temperature superconductors, focusing primarily, but not exclusively, on YBa2Cu3O7−δ, where the best data currently exist. Penetration depth measurements near Tc give no indication of an extra transition, indicating that the pairing state is a one-dimensional representation of the crystal symmetry. P...
متن کاملSpectroscopic Studies of Quasiparticle Low-Energy Excitations in Cuprate and Iron-Based High-Temperature Superconductors
Recent development in the physics of high-temperature superconductivity is reviewed, with special emphasis on the studies of the low-energy excitations of cuprate and iron-based superconductors. For cuprate superconductors, a phenomenology based on coexisting competing orders with superconductivity in the ground state of these doped Mott insulators is shown to provide a consistent account for a...
متن کاملتوضیحاتی درباره نظریههای ابررسانایی دمای بالا
The recently discovered MgB2 superconductors have a record transition temperature for a BCS superconductor due to the high vibration frequencies associated with its light elements. The transition temperatures in the cuprate family of superconductors are much higher but these do not fit the BCS paradigm. The most promising microscopic origin for their many anomalous properties lies in magnetic...
